4 Ways to Embed YouTube Videos in WordPress Blog Post Editor

WordPress is arguably the most famous and extensively used content management system. Thousands of
bloggers are moving to WordPress platform because of the vast array of functionalities it provides. Video blogging has been a hit now, as it can easily portray what sometimes words cannot express. It is easy to embed videos on your WordPress blog, though you might face some challenges if everything doesn’t go right. We will provide you with four most easy ways to embed YouTube videos on your blog post.

1. Auto embedding YouTube videos:

Navigate to Settings, Media and tick the option “Attempt to automatically embed all plain text URLs.” You can specify the default size of videos you want to embed. This method is hassle free as you just have to enter the link of the video in the post, and WordPress automatically embeds it in your post. This method is preferable over plugins as they tend to make the site slower.

2. Embedding code manually

You don’t get a direct “Embed This” tab on YouTube anymore. To get the code, you have to click at the Share button. Once you click at it, it will show you a list of options. Select the option “Use old embeds code”. Now go to the editor and select the HTML mode. Copy and paste the code where you want to embed the YouTube video.

3. Use WordPress functionality “Insert Media”

You can see an icon on WordPress dashboard symbolizing videos. On clicking Insert Media icon, you will be asked about the type, URL and the dimensions of the video you want to embed. This method is useful when you want to customize the dimensions of your video according to the size of your post.

4. Use WordPress plugins

A plethora of plugins available with WordPress have made it one of the most popular platforms in blogging space. Plugins have automated difficult tasks, and you won’t have to scratch your head figuring out what exactly needs to be done to get things done. Plugins can be useful if you frequently post videos, as doing it manually may consume more time. The two most popular plugins for this purpose are YouTube-Insert-Me and Smart YouTube.
WordPress not only supports YouTube but also other video hosting sites like Vimeo, DailyMotion, Hulu and many more. It has done a great task in enabling a user to just enter the URL to automatically embed a video in the post, something not so easy in other CMS platforms. Not only this, you can easily configure the size of the video you want to embed, which is an added advantage. In case, one of the ways doesn’t work for you, the other can be implemented.
