How to Be a Socially Responsible Business

Having a business does not only mean seeking a way to earn a living. Businessmen should be responsible within the environment wherein the business operates and also with the people who works for the business. Taking care of everything that is affected by the business should be looked after by the business owner in a meticulous way. Being  responsible should be a way of the business to show concern with the society where the business in indebted to.

So what are the things that businesses can exactly do to become responsible? Give back what the business takes from the community should be the ideal action. This action is kind of hard to do.  However, I personally believe that this simple rule is important. Large scale companies, for example manufacturing companies, takes a lot from Mother Earth in order to produce the needs they supply to end user. If they take trees or minerals to produce their products there should be a way for them to give it back to the environment. This is a way to preserve our nature, an ideal one I must say.

Not only to nature these companies are indebted to, but the employees who do all the hard work for the company to operate.  Employees give an immeasurable sacrifice for the organization to operate. Most of these employees only got nothing else aside from what they get from their job. They have families to feed so the need to devote almost all of their time to work.  Businesses should know how to compensate all the efforts of their employees to show concern and gratitude. There should many ways to do this and businesses can do some of it without losing a lot.

Let us not forget the government where companies are also indebted of tax.  Taxes that should be collected by the government and is mandated by law should go to the government.  It is important that businesses remit taxes due to them to be a good example to its own employees and consumers.  The general impression that the existence of a business is to simply create profit should be changed into something like a business is in existence because of its social responsibility to its stakeholders.  If the later proposition is to be followed harmonious community will be achieved in no time.

The moral duty of the organization to help should be on top of everything to showcase being responsible.  Stakeholders in the society where a business is located includes the general public, workers, shareholders and consumers.  As a rule in general, if the business is given a lot of blessings or opportunity to earn, there should be a way for the business to give back in return.
