In the Internet marketing, tech, and computer world, your life is your job. It’s why so many SEO’s, affiliate marketers, web developers, absolutely love what they do. And like the late Steve Jobs proclaims in this video, you absolutely have to love what you do if you are going to make it in the business world and you are going to be successful. And most people in the Internet marketing field or computer programming world do love what they do.

I would say that that is true for a lot of the people that go flying under the radar. There are a lot of businesses out there that are run to the right or left of the person’s bed or some other room in their home. This is what makes Internet marketing and all other people that do things computer related IMHO – awesome. So not to brag or anything – but there really is nothing like rolling out of bed and kicking a**. Here’s how:

The Learning Curve

If you want to learn how to play the piano, then you should practice the piano *EVERYDAY* – or at least 5-6 times a week. That being said, you’re learning curve won’t be about how many days you spend a week learning how to program or learning the techniques of SEO. It will be about how many hours you put in to what you love. Honestly the more you love something, the easier it will be to stay focused and put an inordinate amount of hours into your projects.

If you are thinking about diving into the Internet marketing world here is a checklist of things you should be weary of – take not of – and come to terms with.

Learn to dodge the get rich quick schemes. This is especially goes out to all of you 15-21 year old entrepreneurs out there (trust me, there are a lot of them). Get rich quick schemes that involve pyramid schemes (sometimes disguised as MLM or multi level marketing e.g. this MLM company).

There a couple rules of thumb that you have to apply when dodging these types of get rich quick schemes.

1. Is it too good to be true? If it is so awesome then why are they selling their secrets? This is a telltale sign of a get rich quick scheme.
2. Does the biggest source of income come from signing other people up? Beware, sounds like a pyramid scam to me!

Dodging the get rich quick schemes or “professional guides” promising to teach you things like learning C++ in 5 days (impossible; refer to this awesome article Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years) can save you a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of debt.

Take time to get involved with People without SPAMMING Social media, online forums, blog comments, and emailing all make this possible. Just DON’T become one of those people that spam to get results. e.g. follow people on Twitter and then un-follow them just to get more followers.

Twitter, IMHO, is the best social networking site on the planet. Get involved as soon as you can, and start making friends. Tweet about things that interest you to start. There are 101 million ways to get involved in twitter, so do so right away.

The other best place to start networking right away is all of the online forums that there are out there. Especially ones that involve SEO, or anything to do with it. You make meet new business partners, and even pick up clients or jobs from forums like these. It is a great way to network, and forums will do more good for your business (especially if you run a company that provides SEO services then your website can. In fact I know many people that didn’t even make any money off of their SEO website for a couple years (until it ranked well in the SERPs) and they just spent the first couple years hustling the forums. If there’s three words you can take out of this article that will greatly benefit you in the future its Network, Network, and Network!

That is because it really is. You can make great relationships all over the world by just networking with like-minded people.

To roll out of bed and start kickin’ A and taking names – you have to be very good at crafting emails. You can make a lot of business for yourself with perfectly constructed emails. And email marketing and campaigning is a big part of search engine optimization and search engine marketing.
